Natalie is Professor of Linguistics at Nottingham Trent University. Her research focuses on language variation, specifically of the East Midlands. She has worked extensively on 'pit talk', the language of miners, with a particular focus on language as heritage. Her research uses oral histories and she is interested in the connections between linguistics and oral history. She is also interested in accent discrimination and links between language and memory. Natalie's research is collaborative and co-produced with local communities, artists, musicians, creative writers and photographers. Click here for more information
